Educating the Future Workforce in Aerospace
With a predicted shortage of skilled employees for the growing number of aerospace jobs, it is important we develop programs that inspire students to pursue aviation careers. Join us to meet leading educators in aviation and aerospace for in-depth group conversations. In this interactive workshop we will share with attendees simple hands-on activities and resources that can be brought into the classroom to teach aviation STEM skills.

Tour American Airlines
SOLD OUT
Join us for a guided tour of both Robert L. Crandall Campus and DWH Hangar 5 Lunch to be served on Campus
The Robert L. Crandall Campus was established in 2019 as part of a multi-year project to create One Campus for One Team. With this approach, we’ve deliberately and strategically created a campus to welcome and bring all team members together, promoting collaboration and helping us live out our purpose: To Care for People on Life’s Journey®. The campus boasts 8.3 miles of walking and biking paths outdoors, surrounded by 3,000 newly planted trees and 90 acres of preserved woodlands. American Airlines DWH Hangar 5 is one of our large aircraft maintenance facilities and a significant part of American's maintenance operations at its DFW hub. The hangar is 780,000 sq. ft. and includes seven aircraft bays and shop space for various maintenance needs, such as avionics, seat shops, slide shop and paint shops. The tour will be of both locations, with lunch being served on the Robert L. Crandall Campus. Bus 1 will visit the campus and then DWH while Bus 2 will visit DWH and then the campus. Buses will pick up at the Gaylord Hotel at 8:30 a.m. and will head back to the Gaylord at approximately 3 p.m. We look forward to spending the day with you! Location: |

AAM Pilot Development and Simulation Based Training using XR Technologies
Advanced Air Mobility sees new aircraft commonly referred to as eVTOLs entering into service to transport people and cargo as never before. These new aircraft designs require a new cadre of pilots with unique skills. The training methodologies to qualify these pilots must also be transformative and embrace new technologies like VR and MR. Many eVTOLs will be single piloted with a single set of controls. New simulators will need to be developed to replicate these unique aircraft and adequately and safely train the pilots who operate them. Emerging technologies like VR/MR will support the training needs of these pilots.

Beyond the Glass Ceiling—What Still Holds Women Back in Aviation Through Culture, Laws, & Systems
Despite progress, women in aviation still face systemic barriers that limit access and advancement. This session explores how outdated aircraft design standards disqualify half of American women—compared to just 3% of men—from flying military aircraft, with a disproportionate impact on Black women. We'll also examine cultural bias, pregnancy discrimination, lack of postpartum accommodations, and the persistent childcare burden. Through data, policy insight, and personal experience, attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the cultural, legal, and structural challenges still holding women back—and leave with actionable ideas to help create a more inclusive future in aviation.

Designing for Manufacturability in Aerospace: Enabling Scalable, Safe Production from Day One
As aerospace programs demand faster builds and fewer late-stage changes, manufacturability must be addressed early in design. This session presents proven methods for integrating Design for Manufacturability (DFM) into engineering workflows, reducing rework, improving tooling and inspection outcomes, and enabling scalable production. Studies show that up to 85 percent of manufacturing costs are fixed during preliminary design, yet change orders remain common. Drawing from real-world aerospace examples, we explore practical approaches to embedding DFM at the concept stage to boost first-pass yield, support automation, and minimize risk, delivering reliable, certifiable systems with fewer surprises throughout development.

Fighting to Fly: Inspiring Lessons in Perseverence from the Women Airforce Service Pilots of WWII
The Women Airforce Service Pilots of World War II fought for the chance to fly every plane in the USAAF inventory and to serve their country. They had to prove that women could fly heavy, fast planes and could be counted on to do it safely and efficiently. They heard those who doubted them, whether family and friends or the military itself, but didn't listen. From leaders Jacqueline Cochran and Nancy Love, to farmers daughters and college graduates, the WASP persevered and proved women could fly anything they got their hands on. Their story will inspire you.

Navigating Challenges in the Aviation Industry
"Navigating Challenges in the Aviation Industry" provides aviation professionals with a comprehensive overview of key challenges faced by the industry. Leadership in aviation doesn't just fly planes—it's the entire airport ecosystem. Today, our world moves at jet speed. Airports are global villages, trains run driverless, and drones deliver packages to our doorsteps. Leadership now? It’s far more complex—and far more human. We will explore how leadership styles in transportation and aviation have evolved—from the rigid commanding military style through the collaborative adaptive structure of today and where we are going with the tech styles.

Not a Pilot? Not a Problem. Insight Into Diverse Aviation Careers.
When people hear “women in aviation,” they picture pilots, technicians or flight attendants.?While these roles are incredibly important, they represent only a fraction of the opportunities available in aviation today. This session features four Embraer executives whose careers span business development, corporate social responsibility, aftermarket sales and production leadership. They’ll share their unique journeys, offering insight into lesser-known, high-impact roles and how to pursue them. Students and professionals alike will walk away with a broader view of the industry and a better understanding of the many ways women are making meaningful contributions across departments and beyond the flight deck.

Own Your Strengths: The Antidote to Imposter Syndrome and the Secret to High-Performing Teams
Imposter syndrome often creeps in when we focus on what we lack—instead of what we bring to the table. This session introduces the nine Belbin Team Roles as a practical framework to help you identify your strengths, communicate your value, and build stronger, more collaborative teams. Drawing from experience as a Coast Guard aviator and aeronautical engineer, you’ll learn how to reframe self-doubt, navigate unfamiliar environments with confidence, and contribute meaningfully—even when you don’t check every box. No matter where you are on your unique aviation journey, you’ll leave with tools to own your strengths and elevate your impact.
